Incoming North Lamar High School senior Jennah Fritcher recently enlisted with the Texas Army National Guard on Friday, July 10.
Local guard recruiter Staff Sergeant Cody Henry said that Fritcher was excited to begin her time with the guard, adding that until she graduates high school, she will be spending one weekend per month in the Recruit Sustainment Program (RSP).
Fritcher will travel to basic training next summer, and upon completion, she will be attached to a unit based out of Houston working as a Food Specialist.
She will also use the educational benefits she earned with the guard to pursue studies in the medical field when she finishes high school.
The Texas Army National Guard is the only branch of the United States Military that pays students to prepare for basic training in the RSP program along with time that will count towards its enlistment service obligation.
