The Lamar County Chamber of Commerce is continuing to spotlight their long-standing businesses that are making a difference in our community.
Over 66 years ago, Irwin McClanahan returned to his hometown of Paris to venture into the world of business ownership.
Irwin founded McClanahan and Holmes, a single office accounting practice, on December 1, 1952. Now, a modern-day accounting firm, McClanahan and Holmes spans Northeast Texas with offices in Bonham and Denison employing thirty.
The firm’s Paris office was originally located in the Liberty National Bank building, which now houses Peoples Bank. In 1976, McClanahan and Holmes moved to its current location maintaining its distinctive look over the years.
McClanahan and Holmes, LLP have continued to offer tax, accounting, auditing, and consulting services to the Paris, Lamar County, and Northeast Texas area.
To provide a glimpse into the McClanahan and Holmes of 1952, one needs to envision desks filled with ledger books, hand-cranked adding machines, paper tax forms, and manual typewriters. As technology overruled, the firm’s offerings have “kept up with the pace”.
The 2018 version of McClanahan and Holmes houses offices filled with computers, multiple computer monitors, and scanners. Although
technology has changed the businesses’ integrity has remained.
The firm encourages its staff to be active in the community and acknowledges themselves as being one of the moving pieces of Paris’ strong business community.
Over the years, the firm’s partners and staff members have integrated themselves into local organizational leadership roles and boards. The foundation behind the firm lies on their responsibility to help make Paris a better place.
