Mathew Samuel Routon, 81, of Paris passed away Saturday, April 7, 2018, at Paris Regional Medical Center. Funeral services will be held 10:00 a.m. Wednesday, April 11, 2018, at Fry-Gibbs Funeral Home with Rev. Doug Holt and Dr. Tommy Turner officiating. Burial will follow in Evergreen Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home Tuesday 7-8pm.
He was born August 23, 1936, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma a son of Eddie Clifton Routon and Effie Maybell Spangler Routon. He married Elizabeth Salas on May 14, 1960, in Campbell, California. He served his country proudly in the Army as a Paratrooper in the 101st Airborne Division stationed at Ft. Campbell, KY. He was a retired peace officer for the Correctional Department in California and owned and operated a dairy in Powderly for nine years. He was a member of Paris Church of God.
He was preceded in death by his parents Eddie and Effie Routon.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years Elizabeth Routon; sons Dale Routon and wife Sharon of Powderly, Kurt Routon and wife Gina of Mansfield, Adam Routon of Powderly; grandchildren Aaron Routon, Rachel Madzima, Bethany Gathright, Laura Threlfall, Caleb Routon, Zachary Routon, Jared Routon, Zoe` Routon, Madison Routon and 13 Great Grandchildren. Also survived by brothers, Melton Routon, Eddie Ray Routon, Ken Routon; sisters, Melva Nichols and Sandra Paul.
Pallbearers will be Caleb Routon, Aaron Routon, Zachary Routon, Jared Routon, Chris Gathright, Tim Threlfall, and Tate Madzima. Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Bible Fellowship Class.
If desired, memorials may be made to the Happy Hills Farm in Granbury, Texas.
