Linda Lou Baker Flanary passed away peacefully at her home while listening to her Tribute CD, a collection of her piano music, on March 7, 2019.

The family has scheduled a memorial service at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, at Immanuel Baptist Church where she was a member, with Dr. Eric Moore officiating. Cremation was under the care and direction of Bright-Holland Funeral Home.

Linda was born on May 11, 1940, to Margaret and Edwin Baker. She was reared in Paris and attended Paris schools. She married Billy Keith Flanary on June 25, 1960. After their marriage, Linda and Bill moved to Austin where she began her career as an executive secretary, working for three Secretaries of State: Crawford Martin, John Hill and Roy Barrera. Upon their return to Paris in the 1970s, Linda worked as Bill’s legal secretary until his retirement from the practice of law in 2017. Linda was preceded in death by her parents and her beloved husband, Bill.

She is survived by her son, Michael Sean Flanary, of Dallas, and her daughter, Linda Michelle Flanary, of Harrisonburg, Virginia, a brother, Bill Baker and wife Brenda of Tucson, AZ, and several nieces and nephews. She also leaves behind her special friend and caretaker, Susan Dodd, of the home. Throughout Linda’s life, music was her love. An accomplished pianist, Linda accompanied the Paris Community Choir, and played for the First Baptist Church as well as Immanuel Baptist Church. She accompanied the Paris Junior College Chorale and studied piano under the tutelage of Jennie Vaughan until her retirement. In 1988. The Sanctuary Five, a gospel singing quartet, was formed with Bill as the lead singer, along with Roy Gibson, Dr. Ed Shaeffer and Glen

Books with Linda as their accompanist. Linda was a long-time member of the Tempo Music Club and enjoyed playing the piano with her fellow members. The family would like to thank her doctor, Ashfaq Tapia, M.D., and Platinum Hospice, most particularly, Cindy and Rachel. Mark and Pam Boswell have assisted whenever needed and were always available to help Linda. Bill & Brenda Baker have been a pillar of support in both faith and guidance. Bonnie Wulff was invaluable, sharing her love, knowledge and care for Linda.
