Lamar Electric Cooperative sends crew to assist in Hurricane cleanup

Lamar Electric Cooperative is sending a crew and equipment to Jasper, Texas to assist in Hurricane Laura recovery efforts.

Ten crew members will leave early Friday morning traveling south to assist the Jasper-Newton Electric Cooperative.

“At last report they had about 15,000 members out of power.  Hurricane Laura’s main path came very close to this area,” said Lamar Electric Cooperative.

Hurricane Laura made landfall as a Category 4 storm around 1 a.m. Thursday with sustained winds of 150 mph causing widespread damage in Louisiana and parts of Texas. According to reports, at least four people were killed in the storm.

Crew members will consist of Scott Sansom, Drew Conder, Cory May, David Roberts, Dustin Dale, Jessup Crutchfield, Ryan Dean, Colby Pace, Michael Sorensen and Jose Recendiz.

The linemen are expected to be gone for 7-10 days.
