Following an 8-0 start to the season, the Chisum Lady Mustangs got back to their winning ways, this time against a district opponent. Chisum took down Lone Oak in straight sets by a final score of 25-21, 28-26, and 25-14.
Chisum (10-4, 1-3) dropped its first three district contests to Emory Rains, Edgewood, and Grand Saline following their last win at Yantis on Friday, Sept. 4, but the Lady Mustangs were able to close the first two close sets well and were dominant in the decisive third set as the visiting team.
Senior middle Chloe Prestridge led the charge with 13 kills, 3 digs, 2 blocks, and 3 aces, while outside hitter Emmy Williams added 10 kills, 4 digs, 1 block, and 3 aces. Sophomore outside hitter Peyton Holland contributed with 7 kills, 10 digs, and 5 aces, while setter Kelsea Ball had 4 kills, 19 assists, 8 digs, and 2 aces. Sophomore setter Carley Bell poured into the winning effort with 11 assists and 3 digs, while senior libero Kaci Williams recorded 7 digs and 3 aces. Emma Garner and Zoe England combined for 7 kills and 8 digs, while Garner also registered 2 assists and 1 block.
The Lady Mustangs will try to defend their home court at 4:30 p.m. Friday at home against rival Prairiland.
