Detroit ISD on Sunday announced the decision to postpone homecoming festivities originally scheduled for this week.

“Due to the number of faculty and students not able to participate in homecoming this week we have decided to move the date to the home game with Boles on Oct. 30,” said the school on its Facebook page

All homecoming festivities will now be the week of the Oct. 26 thru Oct. 30. Football senior night will be Oct. 23 against James Bowie.

“We will postpone the spirit dress-up days for homecoming to those dates as well.”

Senior Night for our football and cheer team will be Oct. 23 against James Bowie.

Last weekDetroit ISD superintendent Kathie Thompson announced a middle school student had tested positive for coronavirus.

“Due to privacy requirements, we will not be releasing the name of the individual(s) or details that may identify him or her. We are working closely with our school nurse, Cady Wolfe, and the local health department on this matter,” said Thompson. “The student was immediately quarantined, necessary areas were thoroughly cleaned and anyone in close contact was notified.”

The positive case is the first for the district.

“While we do not have reason to believe that those who were not in close contact with the infected individual(s) have reason to be concerned, we ask that you, as always, watch for symptoms of COVID-19.”
