On Sunday, the Paris-Lamar County Health District confirmed the 7th case of coronavirus (COVID-19) in Lamar County.
“Of the 7 confirmed cases, 6 are travel related and 1 is from community spread,” said executive director Gina Prestridge.
As of April 5, there are approximately 220 under self quarantine at this time.
Mayor Steve Clifford issued a ‘Supplemental Local Disaster for Public Health Emergency Order No. 2’ on Friday strongly encouraging citizens to wear “face coverings” when in public.
“All persons over the age of five (5) are strongly encouraged to wear some form of covering over their noses and mouths, such as a homemade mask, scarf, bandana or hankerchief, when: entering or inside any building open to the public; when using transportation, taxis or ride shares; or when pumping gas.”
