Chisum High School graduate Gideon Newman recently enlisted with the Texas Army National Guard.
The Roxton, Texas native joined in September as 11C Indirect Infantryman and will be assigned to the Cavalry Unit in Grand Prairie, Texas.
Newman is the son of Sidney and Kathleen Newman. He has two sisters, Leah and Esther.
The 19-year old said his future plans are to find a full-time position with the Texas Army National Guard.
