Chamber seeks community donations for Lamar County schools

To help aid Lamar County students headed back into the proverbial trenches of the school year, Lamar County Chamber of Commerce is seeking sanitizing supplies.

With an unknown number of students attending school this year, the chamber asks for community help with the 23 school campuses in the county.

“We had an administrator ask if we could help with these items,” Chamber President Paul Allen said. “My thought was every campus will be in that shape sooner or late, if this continues.”

Supplies the chamber seeks include:

  • Hand sanitizer;
  • Bleach-free disinfectant wipes;
  • Disposable masks;
  • Paper towels;
  • Pre-packaged snacks; and
  • Bottled water.

Items can be dropped off at Lamar County Chamber of Commerce, 8 W. Plaza, or someone from the chamber can pick up items and disperse them to the needed campuses.

Allen said there is no deadline or an overall, expected amount.

“Anything will help these kids,” he said.
