Britney’s Steppin’ Out Dance Studio has just added yet another accomplishment to the studio’s already impressive resume.

Britney Drake has once again elevated her dancers, and now they can happily say they danced at the ‘happiest place on earth’; Disney World, Florida.

“We were one of nine studios who were chosen to perform at Disney,” Drake said, “there was a total of 186 dancers performing from all over the United States.”

But for Texas Britney’s Steppin’ Out Dance Studio that took the honor.

“We were the only Studio that represented Texas,” she excitedly said.

To get her dancers the opportunity, Drake had to submit an audition video back in July of 2018.

“We received our invite letter in August last year. So for the past 15-months, we have been planning a trip with our event coordinator through Dancin’ Destination, a company that gives dance studios the opportunity to perform at different places,” she said.

Drake said her dancers got to perform one of their dances from one of the videos that were submitted for the audition. That dance is called “Freaks Like Me” – a song about bullying.

“It’s about how we are all different and quirky in our own way. We chose different characters to playout, such as a cheerleader and a Girl Scout. At the end of the dance, the girls switch costume pieces and become friends. It’s such a neat piece and sends a great message,” she said proudly.

The group performed at Disney’s the Animal Kingdom at the theater where they do the show, Finding Nemo. They were also allowed to do a special showcase dance that included all 186 dancers. Each studio also performed their own dance.

“Then we performed at the parade at the Magic Kingdom!,” she said, beaming with pride for her studio and dancers, “very few studios get to experience this, and it was a huge honor to be a part of Disney. It was absolutely the most magical experience that our studio has done. I was so proud of them.”

Drake said as she stood in front of the Castle waiting for them to come down the main street, she was filled with so many emotions and excitement at the anticipation of seeing her small studio from Paris, Texas dancing in the iconic parade at the Magic Kingdom.

“It truly was something I will never forget and something I know our dance family will cherish forever. The entire trip was from Oct. 4 through 7,” she said.

Her dancers also got to be a part of a dance workshop and take classes from a professional dancer and Disney choreographer.

“This workshop was exclusive just to our dance studio, and we were so grateful for the opportunity,” Drake expressed.

The local dance troop also had to learn the dances they were performing, on top of the training, they regularly do.

For these local dancers, it was clear to Drake and their parents, that the opportunity to be apart of that Disney magic will be one experience hard to top for years to come.
