A man and a woman are in hospital this afternoon with non-life threatening injuries after being shot at their home in Fannin County earlier today.
“We received a message through our Facebook page from a woman who said her and her husband had been shot and they needed an ambulance,” said Fannin County Sheriff Mark Johnson.
Johnson said the woman also included their address in the message and after a failed attempt to contact them, officers were dispatched to the scene.
“Upon arrival, officers found a 76-year-old man shot in the chin and a 66-year-old woman who had a gunshot wound to her hand,” said Johnson. “Officers arrested Robert Allen Stevenson who admitted on the scene to shooting his mom and step-father.”
Stevenson was charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon felony 1.
Johnson said both victims were taken to TMC in Denison and are expected to make a full recovery.
“Thankfully, we monitor our Fannin County Sheriff’s Office Facebook page and were able to quickly help this couple,” said Johnson. “If social media is used properly it can do a lot of good but we do always encourage citizens to call 911 if they are in a position to do so.”
According to reports, the woman wasn’t near her phone but was able to get to a computer to message the Sheriff’s office.
