Avid hunters may be aiming their sights on new, big game come November as an Oklahoma lawmaker introduced a bill to establish a Bigfoot hunting season.
Oklahoma State Representative Justin Humphrey introduced the bill in hopes of the Oklahoma Wildlife Commission would create a hunting season around Bigfoot.
“Interest in the existence of the creature is at an all-time high,” paleontologist Darren Naish said in a 2018 interview with Smithsonian Magazine, “there’s nothing even close to compelling as goes the evidence.”
Humphrey represents Oklahoma House District 19 — Hugo, Grant, Fort Towson, Antlers among other cities — which is known for its several Bigfoot sightings. Honobia, inside district 19, even holds a yearly BigFoot festival — though this year’s festivities have been canceled because of coronavirus concerns.
“The Oklahoma Wildlife Conservation Commission shall promulgate rules establishing a big foot hunting season,” House Bill 1648 reads. “The Commission shall set annual season dates and create any necessary specific hunting licenses and fees.”
House Bill 1648, promoting a Bigfoot hunting season, will go into effect on Nov. 1, 2021, once passed.

The Oklahoma House of Representatives will next convene on Feb. 1, 2021, at noon.
