Chastity Patterson lost her father four years ago.
Even though he had passed, she has continued to text her father’s number with life updates and other messages.
Recently, the night before the anniversary of her father’s death, Patterson texted her dad as she’s always done.
“Hey Dad it’s ME,” she said. “Tomorrow is going to be a tough day again.”
In her texts, she went on to recap all the highs and lows she had been through over the past four years. She talked about how she beat cancer and has been taking better care of herself, how she finished college and graduated with honor and how she’d fallen in love and had her heart broken.
However, after sending texts for years, this time she got a response.
“Hi sweetheart. I am not your father, but I have been getting your messages for the past 4 years,” said the response from a man named Brad.
Brad went on to explain that he lost his daughter in a car wreck in August 2014 and her messages had “kept (him) alive.”
“When you text me, I know it’s a message from God. I’m sorry you lost someone so close to you, but I have listened to you over the years and I have watched you grow and go through more than anyone,” said Brad.
He continued, “You are an extraordinary woman and I wish my daighter wouldhave become the woman you are, thank you for your everyday updates, you remind me that there is a God and it wasn’t his fault that my little girl is gone. He gave me you, my little angel and I knew this day was coming.”
Patterson posted the messages on Facebook saying, “Today was a sign that everything will be okay and I can let him rest.”
The post has since been shared over 270,000 times.
