In a press conference Monday, Gov. Greg Abbott released more information on Phase 2 of Texas’ recovery plan.
Starting Friday, May 22, bars will be allowed to re-open at 25% capacity. However, Abbot said there will be very strict guidelines. Breweries, wineries and wine tasting rooms are also included under these new guidelines.
To keep patrons safe, bars must follow a checklist. Click here to see that checklist.
Likewise, restaurants, which had already been allowed to reopen at 25 % capacity will be allowed to increase to 50% capacity starting Friday.
Additionally, Abbott said the following businesses and venues can re-open Friday:
- Aquariums
- Bowling alleys
- Bingo halls
- Natural caverns
- Rodeos/Equestrian events
- Skating rinks
- Zoos
Childcare services, such as daycares and businesses and programs such as the YMCA and Boys and Girls clubs can reopen immediately.
Professional sports leagues in Texas will be allowed to return May 31, including pro golf, auto racing, baseball, softball, basketball, football, and tennis.
