Eleven years ago, Glenna Kelley’s life was turned upside down when she lost her 13-year-old son, Brent suddenly to a heart problem.
“Brent’s left coronary artery was inside the muscle of his heart,” said Kelley. “This was something that he was born with and had we known, it could have been corrected.”
Kelley and her family had no idea Brent had this condition.
“Children’s of Dallas said this was the seventh case and the worst they have had. If we had of ever had an echocardiogram done it would have shown up. But we never had any reason to get this done before.”
Now, in honor and memory of Brent, Kelley is giving back to the Paris community with the 2nd Annual Brent Wilson Memorial Blood Drive with Carter Bloodcare this Saturday, September 15th from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at Wash Masters, 3040 NE Loop 286 in Paris.
“We encourage everyone to come out and be a part of a community effort in helping save lives. Your donation of blood or platelets is so very important. We never know when a loved one or yourself, will be in a situation of being in need of a blood transfusion.”
Those who donate will receive a t-shirt from Carter Bloodcare, will be fed courtesy of Jerry Pitcock Wrecker Service and receive a free car wash from Washmasters.
In addition to the blood drive, there will be LIVE entertainment all day with artists like Wesley Joe Malone, Michael O’Neal, Twisted Whisky, Merrol Ray, Cass Haley, and Dan’s Red River Band all gracing the stage, as well as a silent auction.

All proceeds from the event will go to North Lamar ISD, Paris ISD and Chisum ISD for band scholarships.
